What is this?
I was awoken to a lump in my lower left breast in early October 2013 (Breast Cancer Awareness Month and my Birthday, Yay!) I quickly got it looked at, had a mammogram, ultrasound, core-needle biopsy (ouch).

That was by far the hardest hit! Sent me sprinting out of control in a crazy slow motion sort of way on a whole new path. But, that is behind me now. Moving on….
What is it exactly?
Breast cancer; Invasive Ductal Carcinoma with Lobular Features. Very aggressive, of course, just the way I like it, right Michael!
DRUGS!
Start date: 11/7/13
Chemotherapy Cocktail in the Infusion Room or Liquid Lounge! One part of each> 1.Taxotere 2. Herceptin 3. Perjeta (the hottest little cutting edge cancer drug on the market, I’m the new poster girl!! of course!) 4. CARBOplatin (a little somethin’ good for my real nice beatin’ hart!)
Are we done yet? NO! Of course not!
Hold on to your seats boys, girls and pilgrims! This is not for the faint of heart!
Mastectomy by my fab surgeon, Dr. Higgins, then same day breast reconstruction for my little lovelies performed by Dr. Gallagher, he is a master!…..hmmmm I could be the next Double D!!! kidding
Done now? Nope!
Radiation!!!!! You know I always enjoyed the ‘Blue Plate Special”
OMG!! HOW LONG???
For now my sweets, lets say a year from now.

Kaci, Know that Maria and I will be thinking of you and praying all the way thru this “journey.” One thing Maria and I did during her breast “journey”, was to include Camille all the way thru it. She saw the incisions, she knew what was going in etc. These kids are very smart and it helped her deal with all the turmoil going on. She even helped change the dressing – yes gross but, it was a learning experience too.
You have always been strong and you will get thru this journey too!
